Course aims to support and accredit the professional development of community health workers (doctors, nurses, midwives, nutritionists, pharmacists, clinical officers, physiotherapists) intending to practise in the tropics; it is also useful for community health workers already practising in developing countries; the DICHC will provide a wide range of transferable and specific skills relevant to community health work and health care management/policy, a basic understanding of research techniques and data analysis; the content of the modules is designed to provide an in-depth understanding of common diseases in the tropics, health seeking behaviours and multicultural communications which all affect the utilization or otherwise of health care services.
