A 2.1 1st degree in translation; interpreting; modern languages or related fields; excellent proficiency in mother language; near native proficiency in 1st foreign language; good command of 2nd foreign language (if applicable); for students whose 1st language is not English: IELTS 6.5 minimum (minimum score of 6 in all component parts); TOEFL (old exam) 630 minimum; TOEFL (new exam) 267 minimum; 2 reference letters (1 must be academic); entrance aptitude test.

The international course is run jointly by London Metropolitan University and the Institut Libre Marie Haps in Brussels (Belgium); it has a strong vocational emphasis on specialist, non-literary translation, focusing on areas as diverse as law; politics; science; technology; medicine; business; tourism; media and the arts; underpinned by a work placement; part of the course can be taken in distance-learning mode.
