Compulsory core units: Fundamentals of clinical trials; basic statistics for clinical trials; clinical trials in practice; reporting and reviewing clinical trials; protocol development; and options from choice of between 3 and 5 units from a range typically including: trial designs; project management and research co-ordination; regulatory affairs: good clinical practice and ethical issues; data management; data monitoring and interim analyses; design and analysis of epidemiological studies; further statistical methods in clinical trials; cluster randomised trials.

A 1st or 2nd class honours degree or equivalent in a subject appropriate to the course or in another discipline which the University belives includes a suitable preliminary training; an appropriate professional or technical qualification together with at least 3 years' relevant experience.
