An Honours degree in a relevant subject (e.g. psychology, social work, medicine, nursing, etc); plus at least 1 year’s experience of face to face client contact in a clinical (health, psychotherapy, counselling, social work) context; or HND in a relevant subject and a minimum of 3 years post-qualification clinical experience in a relevant field; or a professional qualification recognised as being equivalent to an Honours degree (e.g. registered nurse) with clinical experience.

This programme does contain a practice element: students must undertake 120 hours of clinical practice in the area of sexual and relationship therapy (individual and couples therapy) to fulfil the partial criteria towards accreditation from the British Association for Sexual and Relationship Therapy (BASRT); this programme is of interest to those trained or training in counselling, psychology and psychotherapy who wish to enhance their knowledge and practice in this area, and those wishing to train as sexual and relationship therapists.
