A mix of creative, technical and management skills;some relevant industry knowledge is beneficial, though not essential; background in a related field in the arts, games or other media; recent graduate or industry professional looking to fast-track or switch career; a good working knowledge of computers is essential and applicants must possess a demonstrable level of operating competence before applying for this course; apply with: Examples of work on DVD or tape or CD or portfolio; short critical analysis of the use of visual effects in a film or television programme of the student's choice; a brief outline of the student's practical interests in the field, including any relevant industry experience, either academic or practical.

Students learn through practical experience to develop/design, schedule, budget and manage the digital post production parts of many NFTS productions by acting as a post production supervisor or producer, at the same time as operating the systems to create visual fix, grade, online and master the projects; ; students work with Autodesk flame and smoke, AVID|DS Nitris; Digital Intermediate (DI) technology including NuCoda, Quantel iQ and Scratch, developing an in-depth knowledge of these and other related systems, and the techniques employed by leading industry artists and operators; students work on a large number of NFTS film and television productions; industry placements may be undertaken.
