Directing for television studio multi-camera and single camera set-ups; producing single items or entire entertainment shows; television production methods; editing on Avid Xpress and Final Cut Pro; generating entertainment programme ideas; pitching original programme ideas to broadcasters; setting up an independent production company; placements with leading production companies like Hat Trick, Objective and talkbackTHAMES or broadcasters like the BBC are an integral part of the course.

For applicants with a degree television experience is not necessary; for those without a degree some industry experience is required; applicants must submit: An outline proposal for a new entertainment TV programme or series; plus a critical analysis of a current entertainment television programme; and a DVD or VHS of their work; which need not necessarily be in the entertainment area; as some applicants may not have a film or programme-making background this item is optional.

Students learn to develop, script, produce and direct their own single camera or multi-camera entertainment programmes, using the School's own television studio or out on location; the course covers the television production process encompassing everything from the creative to the technical and the business aspects and students develop the craft, skill and confidence to produce and direct both in the studio and on location; important industry contacts are made throughout the course, along with placements and mentors.
