Stages 1 and 2: Involve an introduction to agriculture. Stage 3: Core modules cover the agronomic and physiological basis of production and the protection of combinable and non-combinable crops throughout the production cycle; additional optional modules include: crop product quality and marketing; forage crop production; farm management; students take a crop pests field course in the summer term at the end of stage 2 in addition to taking part in outside farm visits in stage 3.

This option concentrates on the physiology and technology of crop production and the relationship between current agronomic practices and the scientific understanding of crop growth and development; through the course students are encouraged to integrate their knowledge to identify appropriate crop production systems that meet the economic objectives of producers, the quality specifications of various market outlets and the concerns of consumers for the environment and food safety.
