During the 1st year students take 4 taught modules covering key issues of: inclusion and diversity; working in partnership; learning and social environments; and frameworks for practice; 2nd and 3rd years: students obtain employment as trainee psychologists whilst continuing their studies; throughout each of the 3 years students undertake supervised and assessed placements; maintain a practice portfolio, chronicling their professional development; and undertake research leading to a thesis.

A good Honours degree in psychology or equivalent qualification (which must confer eligibility for Graduate Basis for Registration of the British Psychological Society) plus a minimum of 1 year’s relevant experience in working with children and young people within educational, childcare or community settings; applicants whose 1st language is not English require an IELTS score of at least 7.0.

This programme enables recent and mature graduates who have experience of working with children and young people to become fully qualified educational psychologists; central to the skills developed on the course is the ability to apply psychology and the critical use of research; the strengths of the course are used in the development of inclusive and collaborative approaches in working with children; young people; teachers; parents; and other professionals.
