Students take modules (120 credits) typically including: Cities, economies and cultures or states, markets and social transformations; social divisions and inequalities; theory and explanation in social policy; comparative perspectives in social and environmental change; thinking about research: puzzles, paradoxes and problems; introduction to information skills; qualitative and quantitative methodology in the social sciences; dissertation preparation; topics can also be chosen from other subject areas.

2:1 Honours degree or equivalent; applicants with non-standard qualifications, and/or an appropriate level of relevant experience are considered on an individual basis; where 1st language is not English IELTS 6.5; TOEFL 90 (Internet-based); 577 (paper-based); or equivalent are required.
