Compulsory modules cover: Archaeological method and theory; research training; and historical archaeology; 1 optional module is chosen that covers the archaeology of a historic period; remaining taught part of the programme (40 credits) enables students to choose from a wide range of modules; students may choose another period-based or thematic module from those on offer in: archaeology or history; and/or acquire advanced practical skills through modules in: artefact analysis; geographic information systems or other computing applications; heritage management; and bioarchaeology; ancient or modern languages; plus dissertation.

A 2.1 Honours degree, or international equivalent, in archaeology, history or a related discipline; applicants whose 1st language is not English require IELTS 6.5, TOEFL 90 (internet-based), 577 (paper-based), or equivalent.
