Core writing workshops in: Prose; poetry; or scriptwriting (60 credits); optional workshops (20 credits) including: writing for children; poetry and public spaces; and memoir writing; students also study the activities of publishers, the process of editing, and literary readings (20 credits); plus 2 academic option modules including: the short story; 20th-century American women poets; post-war American poetry (20 credits); plus either: a portfolio of students own work or a dissertation on an appropriate literary topic (60 credits).

Good undergraduate degree and some writing experience; students are required to submit examples of their written work; applicants whose 1st language is not English are required to hold IELTS 7.0, TOEFL 600 (paper-based), or equivalent.
