Master's students take taught modules (120 credits) and a dissertation (60 credits); diploma students take taught modules (60 credits) and a dissertation (60 credits); module topics include: Chemical engineering; process control; optimisation; artificial neural networks; modelling and simulation; control of unit operations; statistical process control; data analysis and reconciliation for control; modern process control; the dissertation is based on a research project which, where possible, includes an industry-related project in the field of chemical, biochemical, or food and materials processing.

Minimum of a 2nd Class Honours degree, or equivalent, in a relevant science or engineering subject; applicants whose 1st language is not English require IELTS 6.5, TOEFL 90 (internet-based), 577 (paper-based), or equivalent.
