Taught modules (120 credits); and a dissertation (60 credits); semester 1: Series of lecture-based modules which provide an introduction to the theories; methods; structures; and techniques of planning; semester 2: emphasis shifts towards project-based work; which is very important for synthesising knowledge and developing planning and teamworking skills; 2 key project-based modules: spatial strategies; and sustainable communities: incorporates a European field trip and a project; 3rd taught component is the development of specialist knowledge and skills.

2nd-class Honours degree or equivalent in any subject; 2:1 Honours degree preferred; applicants with non-traditional qualifications and/or significant work experience in the field are considered; where 1st language is not English: IELTS 6.5; TOEFL 90 (Internet-based); 577 (paper-based); or equivalent are required.
