A key component of the course is the development of ideas in relation to contemporary practices in publishing; students study publishing design alongside two complementary areas in the first semester before continuing with their specialist subject in semester two; the course encompasses two elements of study: the main focus of the course is studio practice, and this is complemented by critical studies, which, as its name implies, provides a critical and historical context for that practice.
