A qualification in social work such as the certificate of qualification in social work; diploma in social work; Honours degree in social work; letter of recognition from the General Social Care Council or Central Council for Education and Training in Social Work; or an equivalent professional qualification in a related field; applicants usually apply through their employing agency; for direct admission to modules 2-6, applicants must have completed the consolidation module or its predecessor PQ1.

This course is for social workers and other childcare professionals; it enables the student to gain a specialist qualification validated by the General Social Care Council; students can take the 1st consolditation module as a stand-alone award or complete the rest of the award, which leads to a Batchelor of Arts (Honours) or postgraduate diploma in childcare practice, depending on the entry level.
