Year 1: Provides necessary scientific grounding, with an emphasis on biomedical sciences and associated core practical skills; modules: integrated clinical science 1; genetics; biochemistry; introduction to biotechnology; fundamental skills for clinical science; microbiology and cell biology; expanding horizons 1. Year 2: Offers a more advanced focus on the scientific basis underpinning important diseases and how current (and future) healthcare technologies enhance diagnosis, measurement and clinical management; also enhances practical clinical science research skills and professional practice, supported by a variety of hands-on practical experiences. Year 3: Professional training year; students enhance their skills and increase their learning within a defined area of expertise or research. Year 4: Key emphasis is on practising translating clinical science knowledge, skills and attributes to begin to improve current healthcare practice; also includes the opportunity to undertake a translational clinical science research project, in liaison with a professional healthcare research supervisor.

Course aims to contextualise students' science learning within the healthcare environment; through the use of clinically based materials and scenarios, students have the opportunity to increase their science knowledge and to understand more fully the application of scientific principles to delivering improvements in health, diagnosis of disease and management of medical conditions.
