You should meet or exceed these minimum high school expectations. Math—eight semesters English—eight semesters Lab science—six semesters (2 must be chemistry for Engineering applicants) Social studies—six semesters SAT or ACT scores with writing is strongly encouraged for international citizens. International citizens who submit an exceptional SAT Evidence-Based Reading and Writing(new), SAT Critical Reading(old), or ACT English score may be exempt from submitting additional scores. Generally, an exceptional score is within the top 15 percentile. TOEFL 80 iBT or higher. *In general, subscores are 20 or higher per section. In general, applicants have an overall score of 6.5 or higher with at least a 6.0 in each section. SAT Evidence-Based Reading and Writing(new) - top 15 percentile SAT Critical Reading(old) - top 15 percentile. ACT: English - top 15 percentile.

College Magazine ranked Purdue’s Department of English third for “Top Ten Best Schools for English Majors” in June 2015. Purdue’s English students gain skills in critical thinking and creative problem-solving; the ability to conduct research; facility with language and written and oral communication; respect for diversity; and the capacity to explain complexities as succinctly as possible. Students interested in English can choose from four Bachelor of Arts programs: English (focused on literature), English Education, Creative Writing, and Professional Writing. Students join organizations such as Student English Association, Haraka Writers, and the Professional Writers Club.

Расположение

Purdue's campus is situated in the small city of West Lafayette, near the western bank of the Wabash River, across which sits the larger city of Lafayette. Academic buildings are mostly concentrated on the eastern and southern parts of campus, with residence halls and intramural fields to the west, and athletic facilities to the north. The Greater Lafayette Public Transportation Corporation (CityBus) operates eight campus loop bus routes on which students, faculty, and staff can ride free of charge with Purdue Identification.

The main campus in West Lafayette offers more than 200 majors for undergraduates, over 70 master’s and doctoral programs, and professional degrees in pharmacy and veterinary medicine. In addition, Purdue has 18 intercollegiate sports teams and more than 900 student organizations.
