Queen Mary University of London (QMUL), Foundation, International Foundation Programme in Humanities and Social Sciences

The September-start IFP consists of two 12-week semesters of taught content, a revision week, and an exam period.  Week 7 of each semester is a "Reading Week" in which there are no classes. Students receive their confirmed results in July.

The January-start IFP consists of one 12-week semester and one 11-week semester of taught content, a revision week, and an exam period.  Week 7 of semester one is a "Reading Week" in which there are no classes. Students receive their confirmed results in August.

Students study four modules: a core module "English Language and Study Skills" plus three optional academic modules from the following list:

• Business Studies 
• Economics 
• Mathematics for Economics 
• International Relations and Politics
• Geography
• History - The Making of the Modern World
• Introduction to Literature, Art and Film
• Spanish
• Japanese
• French

• High School leaving certificate (Russia: Marks of 4 or 5 for individual subjects) and a Reference letter from a teacher.
• IELTS 6.0 (min. 5.5 in all elements);
• Some IFP subjects are only open to students with higher IELTS scores: For Literature, you will need an overall IELTS score of 6.5 or above (or equivalent).
• To enrol on the IFP, you must be aged 17 or over by the 1st of September before the course begins. 

The closing date for applications is 15 August.

The International Foundation Programme (IFP) in Humanities and Social Sciences offers a clear route to undergraduate study. It prepares students for degrees in a number of disciplines in the Humanities and Social Sciences, including Law, Business Management, Economics, International Relations, Politics, Comparative Literature, Linguistics, Languages, Film, History and Geography.

The programme is fully integrated with Queen Mary University of London - which is part of both the University of London and the Russell Group - and includes academic and study skills modules taught by the College's academic staff. The IFP is open to international and EU students and provides high quality preparation for the demands of university study.
