Applicants for the MA are normally required to have a 2.1 degree or equivalent in an appropriate subject from a recognised institution. For overseas students, a Cumulative Grade Point Average of 3.3 or higher (or equivalent) from an accredited institution is normally expected.
Applicants for the Graduate Diploma in Social Anthropology should normally hold the minimum entry of a 2.2 degree or equivalent in an appropriate subject from a recognised institution.

Master's: the programme consists of 4 taught modules and a dissertation; 3 of the taught modules are compulsory; the remaining taught module is in a specialist area selected by the student; the dissertation should be on a theme that falls within the selected specialist area: Frontiers of anthropology; environment and culture; anthropology of Ireland; mind and culture; anthropology of music.
