The course is currently provided by the University of Huddersfield, School of Education and since 1990 Redcar & Cleveland College has been an associate centre of the University for the delivery of this course; attendance is 1 session per week; however, for those who hold a City & Guilds 7407, 7307 or 7306 Certificate, the RSA Teachers Certificate or a teaching qualification of similar status, credit may be claimed against the outcomes of the appropriate modules in the course which may allow them to complete the course in less than 2 years; in both cases attendance for a residential block period at the University of Huddersfield is essential; this element of the course consists of 4 days at the end of the 1st year of the course (early to mid-July); the course is intended for teachers, tutors and trainers working in the post-compulsory (i.e. post school) sector.
