Students will learn the basic principles of microeconomics, macroeconomics, and econometrics, and how to apply those principles in studying economics phenomena and analyzing public policy issues. Undergraduates may major in economics or mathematical economic analysis (but not both). The major in mathematical economic analysis is recommended for students who intend to pursue graduate work in economics or a business or governmental job in which extensive analytical and quantitative skills are required.

Расположение

Houston has two airports: William P. Hobby (HOU), 11 miles to the south of campus and George Bush Intercontinental (IAH), 24 miles to the north. Intercontinental is a hub of global travel. Hobby is a hub for regional, domestic travel. Together they offer 1,000 flights a day in and out of Houston.


Most major rental car companies have locations at both airports. SuperShuttle and taxis provide ground transportation services from both airports.


The Metropolitan Transit Authority of Harris County, (METRO) provides bus and rail service from destinations around Houston. There is a METRORail stop across the street from the main entrance of the Rice campus. The rail line travels up and down Main Street, serving downtown, the Texas Medical Center and Reliant Park.
