Statisticians make critical contributions in business, medicine, economics, defense and engineering. The demand for statisticians at all education levels is one of the highest for any professional group. Rice's Professional Master in Statistics (M.Stat) program prepares students for careers as professional statisticians. It includes a solid foundation in statistical computing, statistical modeling, experimental design, and mathematical statistics, plus electives in statistical methods and/or theory. Students have the opportunity to concentrate on theory or applications, or a combination of the two. It is a bridge to industry, designed to provide advanced learning and training in the applied aspects of statistics theory, methodology and techniques, beyond the typical undergraduate program.

Расположение

Houston has two airports: William P. Hobby (HOU), 11 miles to the south of campus and George Bush Intercontinental (IAH), 24 miles to the north. Intercontinental is a hub of global travel. Hobby is a hub for regional, domestic travel. Together they offer 1,000 flights a day in and out of Houston.


Most major rental car companies have locations at both airports. SuperShuttle and taxis provide ground transportation services from both airports.


The Metropolitan Transit Authority of Harris County, (METRO) provides bus and rail service from destinations around Houston. There is a METRORail stop across the street from the main entrance of the Rice campus. The rail line travels up and down Main Street, serving downtown, the Texas Medical Center and Reliant Park.
