A good Honours degree from an approved university or higher education institution; register for the degree of MPhil in the first instance and apply to transfer to PhD midway through your programme; in exceptional circumstances you may be able to register directly on to the PhD programme; if this is the case you are usually expected to hold a higher degree with a significant research component in a relevant subject area, from an approved university or higher education institution.

The centre for dance research offers research students a well-developed programme of research seminars and conferences, including lectures and lecture-demonstrations given by eminent dance scholars; during the programme, students are also prepared for future careers as researchers disseminating their ideas through seminar presentation and publication and, where appropriate, as teachers in tertiary education; in some cases, students are encouraged to engage in supervised teaching experience as part of their programme.
