Students study the National Curriculum in depth and explore issues including: how children acquire musical knowledge and understanding; classroom organisation; teaching mixed ability groups; equality of opportunity in schools; communication skills; in addition, wind, brass, percussion or strings pedagogy includes an introduction to related instruments within the instrumental families, teaching individual and group instrumental lessons and creative musicianship; trainees complete 3 teaching placements at secondary schools and Music Services.

Graduate in music of universities and conservatoires; GCSE minimum grade C in English and mathematics, or equivalent; enhanced Criminal Records Bureau (CRB) check; interview.
