Years 1-2: Taught at Camden Town campus. Topics include: Animal husbandry; basic anatomy and histology; biometry; cardiovascular and respiratory systems; embryology; integument; locomotor and peripheral nervous system; molecular biology of cell; anti-inflammatory drugs and mediators of inflammation; digestion and metabolism; endocrinology; exotic animals; general pathology; immunology; reproductive system; the head; thermoregulation; urinary systems; 5 weeks of animal husbandry extramural studies (EMS) in each year, including 3 weeks' lambing during the Easter vacation. Year 3: Clinical stages taught at the RVC’s Hawkshead campus in Hertfordshire. Modules include: foundation microbiology; foundation parasitology; principles of clinical sciences; body systems modules; alimentary system 1; central nervous systems and special senses; cardiovascular system; locomotor system; respiratory system; clinical EMS: 13 weeks at a variety of veterinary practices by following September. Year 4: Taught topics include: alimentary system 2; endocrine system; lymphoreticular system; skin system; urogenital system; professional studies; species medicine; next 12 months is continuous period of intramural and extramural clinical rotations; intramural clinical rotations (IMR) take place in the following areas of the RVC: Queen Mother Hospital for Animals; Farm Animal and Equine Medicine and Surgery; Pathology; Beaumont Animals’ Hospital. Year 5: Continuation of clinical rotations from year 4. Between February and May students choose species- or subject-based elective (includes practical project) from: equine studies; farm animal studies; small animal medicine and surgery studies; wildlife and zoo animal studies; clinical pathology; clinical pharmacology; comparative anaesthesiology; orthopaedic science; reproduction.

Clinical extramural study entails total of 26 weeks on placement in veterinary practice spread throughout 3 clinical years; normally, 1 week must be spent studying meat hygiene in an abattoir, and 1 week in a Veterinary Investigation Centre; up to 8 weeks clinical EMS may be spent overseas.
