Year 2: Research methods in the social sciences; social change in a globalising world; Europe in a changing world; work, employment and economic change; information technology and social change, and independent studies. Year 3: The sociology of culture and identity; contemporary political theory; the politics of citizenship, community and belonging in the 21st century; radical political economy; students also carry out a dissertation.
