Year 1: Food for thought; nuts and bolts; introduction to sociology; economics and society; introduction to politics, and independent studies. Year 2: Research methods in the social sciences; social change in a globalising world; Europe in a changing world; work, employment and economic change; information technology and social change, and independent studies. Year 3: The sociology of culture and identity; contemporary political theory; the politics of citizenship, community and belonging in the 21st century; radical political economy; students also carry out a dissertation.

This course is for students who want to equip themselves with a sound understanding of the social, economic and political dimensions of social change and to provide them with the skills and knowledge necessary for critical social analysis and active engagement with social, political and economic issues.
