This course analyses the way in which the past is used in the present by people, states and institutions; it emphasises people's own engagement with the past; students are required to attend the college weekly during the 1st year and less often during the 2nd year if studying part-time; the course focuses on the relationships between personal and public history and breaks down the barriers between academic and public history.
