The course covers: Contemporary women's studies including key debates and different theoretical positions; contemporary women's issues (including work, the law, family, social policy, art, music, media and cultural representations and more); praxis: the combination of theoretical understandings with practice and activism (researching women's lives through a combination of theory and practice); and culminates with the dissertation.

Honours degree in a relevant subject, or equivalent; non-graduates with relevant professional qualifications or relevant personal, political, professional or voluntary experience also considered; students must provide 2 satisfactory references.

This course focuses on women's lives, in contemporary society, historically and globally; the course emphasises the strong links between theory and practice; this course is for people from a range of backgrounds and recent experiences: work, community, family - who can demonstrate the ability to study at postgraduate level.
