Year 1: Managing and developing skills for learning; the learning support person in context; foundations of subject knowledge; promoting and enhancing learning with information technology. Year 2: managing behaviour and inclusive learning; teaching and learning strategies and learning support; managing support and communication and negotiation skills; learning support in practice (work-based learning). Year 3: the professional learning support person; assessment in education: supporting pupil progression; child protection and the statutory and legal framework; national curriculum: policy and school based delivery.

Course is designed to equip students with the knowledge, understanding and skills required to succeed in a learning support environment within primary or secondary education, or another appropriate learning environment; it aims to develop students abilities and extend their range of skills, techniques, personal qualities and attitudes essential for successful performance within this environment; study involves face to face classes, together with work based and on-line learning.
