Digital imaging, silk-screen and printmaking; design, construct, embellish and manipulate fabric and other materials to create unique designs; have the opportunity to explore and examine the application and function of textiles in a contemporary market and understand how this affects design decisions; develop business and professional practice skills by working on live briefs set by industry and completing a period of work experience; be encouraged to enter competitions; be able to access a digital workshop which includes equipment for digital laser cutting, embroidery and fabric printing as well as the excellent textiles print room and sewing room facilities; complete a visual culture module that will underpin studio work; focus on creating personal design statement in the final year which will culminate in the somerset college degree show.

There are 2 pathways available: designer for industry (produce textile print work suitable for the home furnishing market) or designer-maker (to manipulate fabric and explore the print process as a creative medium to produce specific artefacts).
