Semester 1: art since 1960; issues in contemporary art; curating an exhibition; writing and publishing art; criticism; research methodology. Semester 2: the art network ; art, criticism, theory and literature ; key artists; key exhibitions; options in contemporary art: art law and business, global photography today, new media in contemporary art, graphic design and contemporary design; research methodology. Semester 3: dissertation.

Вступительные требования

BA or equivalent normally required, knowledge of earlier 20th-century art essential for entry to MA; in addition, for applicants whose first language is not English, IELTS score 7.0 or TOEFL 600 or equivalent required; for admission to MA, applicants submit a piece of marked written work; candidates will attend an interview where they will be shown photographs for identification and analysis.

This programme is especially suited for those who plan careers as gallery owners, curators, dealers, consultants, writers or critics; at the root of the course is an emphasis on the artwork itself and how we approach and interpret contemporary art; tutor-accompanied visits to London's contemporary art museums and galleries form a regular part of the curriculum and this analysis of paintings, sculptures, installations and conceptual works continues throughout the year; students will also propose an exhibition using a commercial or public gallery in London as a speculative model.
