Школа практической подготовки учителей Южного побережья, PGCE (professional), Primary Education (Lower Primary, 3-7)

Trainees spend 60 per cent of their time in school; most of this teaching practice occurs in 2 main schools; trainees also have placement experiences in Childrens' Centres and SEN schools; they learn to plan, teach, prepare resources and to assess, monitor, record and report on children’s learning and development.

Вступительные требования

A recognised degree (priority is given to candidates with good degrees in core subjects or early childhood studies); a genuine understanding of the Early Years Curriculum and of the particular learning needs of young children; a minimum of 3 weeks school/nursery experience covering Foundation Stage 1, Foundation Stage 2 and Key Stage 1, undertaken within the past 2 years; English, mathematics and science GCSE at grade C or above; a good level of written and oral communication skills; a professional reference, usually from a headteacher or other professional qualified to comment on the applicant's suitability as a teacher; all candidates must be physically and mentally fit to teach young children; interview is required.

The focus of the course is a study of Early Years Education, across the Foundation Stage and Key Stage 1 of the National Curriculum; directly validated for the award of Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) by the Training and Development Agency for Schools (TDA).
