This course has a sport and tourism Foundation year (Level 0).; the foundation level provides for the needs of students who require a period of study to update or broaden their knowledge base before attempting Level 1 of a degree programme; it forms an integral part of an extended degree course and aims to provide the student with a range of basic knowledge and skills in the context of sport and tourism; the sport (coaching and sport development) course has been designed and developed to provide the student with the knowledge and understanding necessary meet the demands of the modern and diverse sport and leisure sector; those working in sport coaching and development need to develop an understanding of customers, products, services and operational issues, and this course should allow the student to play a strategic role in the future development of sporting opportunities for individuals and groups within the United Kingdom; the degree provides the student with an opportunity to acquire a range of sports coaching qualifications, along with a thorough awareness of the constraints within which the student has to operate.
