This course provides both intellectual and practical training for those who wish to establish themselves as designer makers within the 3- dimensional design and contemporary craft industries; the course encourages experimentation with a variety of materials, for example, textiles, wood, metal, plastics, ceramics and glass, through the investigation of a broad range of technical processes; students are exposed to professional standard briefs encouraging them to develop their research, communication and problem solving skills; workplace skills are also part of the course, students are for example expected to plan and cost products and produce marketing material; students are encouraged to develop the confidence to analyse art and design outcomes and to reflect on their progress.
