Course is a competence-based qualification aimed at people who already hold a managers/deputy managers post in an adult care service.; it enables students to gain a nationally-recognised qualification in care that is mandatory (if not already holding a level 4 nursing or social work qualification) for some managers under the national minimum standards for care (e.g. managers of residential homes); the award is achieved by building a portfolio of evidence that demonstrates understanding of the principles of good practice and competence in the areas indicated in each unit; all evidence is judged by a college-based assessor, working in partnership with the employer.
