The course consists of one module of 10 credits at HE level 1: Personal skills in literacy: speaking and listening; reading and writing; this module aims to provide the students with opportunities to develop their knowledge, understanding and application of speaking and listening, reading and writing from a theoretical perspective and to apply this knowledge and understanding in practice; students will then be in a position to demonstrate an appropriate level of skills in speaking and listening, reading and writing and meet the entry requirements for the UCPD in teaching english (literacy) in the lifelong learning sector.

Course has been developed as an access course for students who wish to study the UCPD in teaching English (literacy) in the lifelong learning sector but who do not meet the standard national entry requirements in their personal English (literacy) skills; the course will enable students to develop skills in English (literacy) in the areas of speaking and listening, writing and reading via the completion of a range of learning tasks; on successful completion of the module the students will be able to progress into the UCPD award.
