The course is designed to develop the skills and knowledge that eventually allow students to either continue in higher education or to find employment; innovation and creativity in performance comes from being prepared to challenge the rules of conventional music; in order to do this effectively (and not simply repeat what others have done), it is important to have knowledge and understanding of what the rules and conventions are; there are opportunities for collaborations across other programmes in media and performing arts, for instance creating and developing promo videos, soundtracks and musical scores; students must complete and pass 8 units in year 1 and 8 units in year 2.
