The core modules offer an opportunity to link theory to practice within a setting of the student's choice; optional modules include clinical applications of advances in speech technology; medical ethics; health promotion; management of human resources in health and social care.

Degree or diploma in speech and language therapy; at least 2 years professional experience; overseas students must be trained at a school recognised by the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists and meet the Institute’s English language requirements.

The course aims to teach students to: deliver a modernised clinical service; demonstrate an understanding of the value of a sociological imaginiation for communication research; use appropriate research methods to investigate and evalute practice and service provision; develop expert knowledge and practice in speech and language therapy within an inter-professional context.
