The technically demanding and highly specialised media and multimedia-based industries are rapidly converging, requiring a new generation of multimedia-literate and multi-skilled professionals; television and film could not exist as they do in the 21st-Century without massive investments in computer graphic imagery (CGI), motion-capture, chromakey and the compositing of live and computer generated material; this course responds to these issues, challenges and opportunities directly, providing knowledge and skills to enhance the student’s employability skills in a market where they are in high demand; the local and regional development of digital media industries provide extensive opportunities for the student’s professional development throughout the course; the student becomes experienced not only in the technical and creative techniques required, but also gains experience of the professional standards, procedures and environments within the film and effects industries.
