Вступительные требования

The most fundamental expectation of each entering student at USC is that she or he will have completed a rigorous high school curriculum in English, mathematics, science, social studies, foreign language and the arts. When assessing grade point average, consideration is also given to class rank (if available) and to the rigor of your curriculum, including the number of advanced courses taken (if offered by your school). First-year (freshman) international applicants are required to submit: SAT or ACT scores; AND TOEFL, IELTS, or PTE Academic scores, if the native language is not English. First-year (freshman) international applicants should earn: Minimum score of 600 on the SAT Critical Reading exam (previous SAT) or 650 on the SAT Evidence-Based Reading and Writing exam (redesigned SAT) or 27 on the ACT English exam; OR A minimum score of 100 on the TOEFL iBT (with a minimum score of 20 in each section); OR A minimum IELTS score of 7; OR A minimum PTE score of 68.

The faculty and students in USC Dornsife’s Biological Sciences department study the natural world to better understand living systems—from the biochemical to genes, and from cells to global biodiversity. The department plays a central role in the university’s goal to make USC a leader in life science research. The department has research faculty with specialties in three disciplines: marine environmental biology, molecular and computational biology, and neurobiology. Biology majors may study general Biology or choose an emphasis in any of these three disciplines. Undergraduates in Biological Sciences have the opportunity to become involved in laboratory or field research by taking research courses.

Расположение

Located in the heart of Los Angeles, USC’s University Park campus is part of the city’s Downtown Arts and Education Corridor and is home to the USC Dana and David Dornsife College of Letters, Arts and Sciences and many professional schools. The Health Sciences campus, northeast of downtown Los Angeles, is home to the Keck School of Medicine of USC, the School of Pharmacy, three major teaching hospitals, and programs in Occupational Science and Occupational Therapy and in Biokinesiology and Physical Therapy. USC also has programs and centers in Marina Del Rey, Orange County, Sacramento, Washington, D.C., Catalina Island, Alhambra and around Southern California. Children’s Hospital Los Angeles, staffed by USC faculty from the Keck School of Medicine, is often referred to as USC’s third campus.
