Stage 1: Visual literacy; introduction to audio; dynamic communication; elementary animation; digital aesthetics; life drawing. Stage 2: core modules: advanced 3-dimensional; dynamic interaction; life drawing and time-based narrative; optional modules: digital media contexts; special effects (SFX) and psycho acoustics; character animation; concepts of composition; marketing or Japanese studies. Stage 3: core modules: persuasive narrative; advanced interaction; personal project and digital media practice; optional modules: advanced animation; advanced audio; advanced visualisation; creative sound synthesis; marketing or Japanese studies. Stage 4: students are required to complete a final year project and dissertation on a topic of special interest; core modules: project management; research methods; concept development; media writing; Honours project; Honours dissertation; critical analysis.

This course helps students become a professional computer artist able to produce high quality computer artwork, video and audio content, and to contribute to interdisciplinary project teams that create innovative digital media solutions; in undertaking this course, students work on a wide range of creative projects that involve design, development and production of a range of media design solutions; the course: allows students to develop their artistic skills for creating media content required by the audio visual industry using digital tools and techniques that includes computer graphics, computer animation, and interactive technologies; equips students with high-level art and design skills alongside a critical understanding of current digital arts practices in the context of contemporary and future media industries; enables them to produce visual and audio digital media content for 2-dimensioanl and 3-dimensional animations, video production, interactive products and computer games; allows students to work closely with digital media professionals to develop a professional portfolio of work in preparation for a career in digital media industries; this course is accredited by SkillSet, the Sector Skills Council for the audio/visual, broadcast and interactive media industries.
