Year 1: Provides a foundation through courses dealing with the main genres and periods, with language, identity and society, and with different kinds of writing. Year 2: 1 compulsory module: the Middle Ages and the Renaissance; then students choose from language, creative writing, adaptations, canonical English literature, and other literatures in English. Year 3: Brings the study of literature up to the present day, as well as providing writing for children, women and culture, and advanced creative writing; a dissertation on a chosen topic is a compulsory element and this may be a piece of creative writing.
