Modules include: Data communications; introduction to programming; systems modelling; object oriented program development; comparative languages; systems architecture; information technology systems building; social and professional issues in computing; interface design environments; dynamic data access; web database systems; decision support systems; usability engineering; e-Commerce: techniques and applications; managing networks; dissertation or project and research: the major work in the 3rd year is the project, where students need to create a significant piece of working software and demonstrate the skills they have acquired during the previous years of study.

During the 1st year, students study modules in systems modelling and introductory object oriented programming, together with general computing modules to give a basic grounding; in the 2nd year students develop an understanding of how computers work in terms of architecture and operating systems, and they continue the work on logic and object oriented programming and comparative languages; additionally, at this level, students have a wide choice of options in which to apply their programming skills; students have the chance to develop practical skills in modern 3GL programming.
