Architectural design and architectural practices involve studio-based study in which architectural projects are researched, analysed, and developed through design methods matching the individual creative abilities and personal theoretical stance of each student; architectural histories, theories and issues aims to foster an intellectual and creative approach to the wider context of this richly varied discipline; this subject is taught through seminars, studio work and lectures, some chosen from the broader art and design field; architectural design technology provides students with an understanding of technical systems, along with skills and knowledge to engage professionally with other design disciplines; architectural design technology specifically examines the realisation of spatial ideas through materials, construction, structure and environmental design.

Central to this course is the process of design in its broadest sense, supported by lectures, seminars and tutorials; these are designed to inspire and encourage investigation and testing of the techniques, technologies and knowledge involved in the creation of architectural spaces and structures; the course offers an extensive range of learning opportunities, and provides a robust foundation of practical, professional and intellectual skills.
