Open to all health professionals (doctors, nurses, health visitors, midwives, health promotion specialists, professions allied to medicine, environmentalists and environmental scientists) for whom public health is a major component of their activity, and who have substantial professional experience including a management element; a 1st degree is not essential.

The course meets the need of doctors and other senior health and environmental colleagues in delivering and managing the public health and/or environmental agenda; participants gain an understanding of public health issues and the various roles of all the professionals involved in both the statutory and non-statutory sectors; study includes the techniques required to undertake epidemiological studies, approaches to environmental impact on health matters, mechanisms of partnership working, and wider issues relating to the health of the population.
