Students study 2 core modules: 1 exploring the professional issues in nursing and 1 aimed at developing teaching and practice development skills; plus 2 clinical modules, 1 of which is related to their subject specialism eg: intensive care practice; emergency nursing; neuroscience practice; coronary care practice; operating department practice; nephrology practice; medical nursing; surgical nursing; orthopaedic nursing; in semesters 1 and 3 there is 1 study day per week whereas semester 2 has 2 study days; students receive a schedule of modules and lecture times in separate information; patterns of attendance may vary between courses and module leaders provide timetables detailing attendance on the first day of the module.

This course is designed to offer nurses from countries other than the UK the opportunity to achieve professionally recognised (NMC) clinical nursing awards en-route to a Diploma award; it offers the opportunity for the development of competent practice within a defined speciality as well as teaching and practice development skills; clinical practice: Students will generally work 4 days per week in clinical practice; as the second semester has two theory days you are only required to work three days in practice for this semester; a minimum of 35 weeks practice experience is required

Расположение

Город Престон является культурной столицей графства Ланкашир и связан с остальными частями страны отличной системой автодорожного, железнодорожного и авиасообщения. Университет расположен в 10 минутах ходьбы от главной железнодорожной станции. Дорога на поезде от Престона до Манчестера занимает 45 минут, до Лондона – 2 часа 15 минут, а до Ливерпуля – 1 час. До аэропортов Манчестера, Ливерпуля и Блэкпула также легко добраться.
