The course is organised around four themes: media, audiences and issues: in which issues concerning the consumption of the media and the production of meaning are explored; identities and lifestyles: in which the way that media representations help people to shape their lives is explored; media and the world of work: in which research skills and institutional relationships within the media industries are studied and the media workplace itself is explored; texts and narratives: in which the form and structure of story telling in film and television is explored; optional modules include: lifestyle television; Hollywood movies; news culture and journalism; marketing and advertising; British film industry; pop music; sport media and everyday life; learning for work; comedy; celebrity culture; horror cinema.

Throughout the course students' knowledge of media studies grows in the context of the development of research skills, working with others, engaging with politics and ethics and reflecting on their own learning; this is a challenging course taught in a supportive environment which can lead towards a substantial independent project.

Расположение

Университет расположен на территории двух студенческих городков, что предоставляет студентам возможность окунуться в активную жизнь богатого историей города Чичестера и в то же время насладиться отдыхом на побережье морского курорта Bognor Regis, где расположен второй кампус Университета. До обоих городов можно легко добраться на поезде или автомобильным транспортом. В каждом городе недалеко от студенческих городков есть железнодорожные станции и автобусные остановки.
