Typical content: Spring term: school-based unit, incorporating mathematics: a human activity; geometry and mathematical reasoning; decision and discrete mathematics; core number and algebra functions; algebra and trigonometry; Summer term: mathematical structure and proof; calculus; mechanics; probability and statistics; completion of school-based unit; students also undertake extended mathematical study.
Вступительные требования
Degree, which should normally contain less than 50% of mathematical content, and may contain no mathematics at all; A2 mathematics or equivalent normally required, plus GCSE English and mathematics grade C or equivalent; conditional acceptance on a PGCE or other ITT route into secondary mathematics in the region before starting the course; all candidates require satisfactory Enhanced Disclosure from the Criminal Records Bureau and a satisfactory Medical Declaration before the course starts; all candidates are interviewed.

Course enhances the breadth and depth of knowledge and understanding of mathematics to enable participants to achieve successful completion of a Secondary Mathematics Initial Teacher Training (ITT) route, whether via PGCE or GTP; consists of around 500 hours of tutor-led studies, including 12 days of placement in a partnership secondary school to undertake specific tasks; most weeks involve 4 campus or school-based days, plus 1 day of directed study; exceptions are directed study weeks at both school half-terms and for 2 weeks at Easter.
