The programme introduces students to a range of literary forms and asks them to aim at standards suitable for publication; in addition to creating short stories; plays; scripts; poems; articles; students may develop a lively critical appreciation of traditional forms; pay close attention to successful examples of current writing; develop their own innovative strategies; in addition to taking core modules, students can follow either a broadcast media pathway with modules in writing for radio; television and film or a print and publication pathway with modules in writing for children; poetry; short stories and writing for newspapers; the programme invites students to examine the social processes and relationships at work in writing and to consider the various ways in which readers and audiences respond to different kinds of writing; this subject sees writing as the product of an exciting ongoing process and aims to increase the students' awareness and sensitivity to past and present writing while at the same time informing students of current issues within professional writing.

Расположение

Дерби - процветающий городок, один из самых безопасных городов на востоке центральных графств Англии. Кампус Университета находится на окраине города, жилые помещения располагаются между кампусом и центром, так что Вы легко сможете добраться пешком как до студенческого городка, так и до центра города Дерби. Здания студенческого городка располагаются на Kedleston Road, Britannia Mill и Markeaton Street. Все они находятся недалеко друг от друга, поэтому Вы с легкостью можете добраться пешком от одного здания до другого. Также между зданиями курсирует маршрутный автобус.


Бакстон - маленький, красивый и гостеприимный городок со своим особым характером находится в национальном парке Скалистый край. Здесь располагается второй кампус University of Derby. Жилые помещения Университета находятся в центре города, всего в нескольких минутах ходьбы от кампуса.
