Year 1: Students have an introduction to interactive media/multimedia technology applications, internet technology and hardware; they can also undertake audio and video production subjects and explore developments in new media design; practical coursework with industrial relevance and specifications shows students how to translate their ideas into reality. Year 2: Students develop practical and critical skills in: how to use computing and multimedia in the film and broadcasting industries, internet and multimedia authoring development; audio and visual media systems; studio production skills; students gain an in-depth analysis of the different practical production applications that apply. Year 3: Students can specialise in their chosen area through independent study and work as part of a team for a group project; core and optional modules include: computer-based media production using industry-standard tools; broadcast and storage of audio/video information; virtual reality and multimedia.

This course combines students’ creative ability with technical skills that are essential for a successful career in media systems, multimedia development and authoring, internet technologies and media production; students have a solid grounding in the applications of various media and gain practical hands-on experience of industry-standard equipment and tools, on both PC and Mac platforms; the subtle blend of skills in production, media, multimedia and technology mean graduates are able to play a key role in industry and offer a practical, knowledgeable approach to content development across a number of platforms.
